Overview
cmd-find is a browser extension that lets you ask questions about any web page using an AI provider of your choice. It has no backend, no accounts, and no analytics. Your data never passes through our servers.
What we collect
cmd-find does not collect any user data. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected or stored externally.
- No usage data, telemetry, or analytics are gathered.
- No web history or page content is logged anywhere.
What is stored locally
The following settings are stored in your browser using
chrome.storage.local and never leave your device:
- Your API key for your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google)
- Your selected provider and model
- Your theme preference
- Your per-site query history (up to 25 entries per hostname)
API calls
When you submit a query, the text of the current page and your question are sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider's API endpoint. This request uses your own API key and is subject to that provider's privacy policy:
No other network requests are made by this extension.
Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions and uses them solely as described:
- storage — to save your settings and query history locally in your browser.
- Host permissions (api.openai.com, api.anthropic.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com) — to allow direct API calls to your chosen provider from the extension.
Third parties
We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties. The only external communication the extension performs is the direct API call to the provider you configure, using your own credentials.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date at the top.
